Todd and the kids

We recently had children coming out to the farm for our “Sponsor a Pony for a Day” event on the 19th and 20th of December. The children spent the whole day here, learning about what we do at the Unit and pampering the ponies.

Meeting the donkeys

Inyanga loved the attention (and the treats!)

The day kicked off with a tour of the farm (well-supplied with carrots!) where they met the horses, donkeys and foals, followed by a break to eat and a talk from Elaine about what the Unit does in our rural outreach program. We organised a treasure hunt, apple bobbing and other activities, and then they got to groom and decorate their ponies.

Nothing better on a hot day than sitting in a water bucket!

Grooming and plaiting

Todd being decorated

On the second day, Wayne Bushnell kindly came out to give a demonstration of natural horsemanship and the kids had a chance to apply what they learned with his supervision.
